With merely 25% engagement and 43% of Australians and New Zealanders either watching or actively looking for new jobs, signs of detachment are evident locally as well. This trend has significant implications for customer outcomes and productivity.#Gallup

Australian workplaces are facing a retention, productivity and mental health crisis. In 2023, almost half (48%) of Australian workers experienced a lot of stress the previous day. In addition to high levels of stress, 20% of employees say they felt sad and 15% felt angry the prior day. It’s not only employee wellbeing that’s concerning – @Gallup finds that just one-fifth (21%) of Australian employees are engaged– i.e., feel involved in and enthusiastic about their jobs – compared to the global average of 23%. Furthermore, 12% are actively disengaged. This lack of engagement could cost Australian companies over $220 billion AUD annually in lost opportunity, equating to 9% of the nation’s GDP. Organisational leaders urgently need to address this crisis by taking actions that foster a workplace culture of employee engagement and wellbeing. Discover additional insights about the workplaces in Australia – and across the world – in Gallup’s latest State of the Global Workplace report. https://lnkd.in/g8cpCVCt

Spent the last 2 days at the HR Strategy People & Talent festival in Sydney, where we explored how to create more workplaces in Australia and New Zealand that are inclusive, developmental and fulfilling, and that boost overall wellbeing and performance. In the People Analytics and HR Data stream, we discussed not just crunching the numbers, but decoding the human experience. Imagine if we could distill the essence of motivation, collaboration and innovation into elegant algorithms? Moving analytics from hindsight to foresight so we can advise strategy and enhance the workplace experience. Thanks to all those who generously shared case studies and contributed ideas to these conversations.Rohit Kar Hannah Lomax Christopher Rockwood Kirsten Edwards Richard R.
