Stichnoth, chairman and president of Iowa-Illinois Gas Electric died Wednesday night St. Luke's Hospital after an extended illness.
Mr. Stichnoth, of 2231 23rd Bettendorf, was 58. Services are pending at Fredericks Funeral Home, Davenport. Mr. Stichnoth graduated from the University of Iowa in 1948, and later from the university's College of Law.
He began his career with IowaIllinois in 1950. In 1954, he became director of employee relations and was elected secretary and assistant treasurer in 1958. In 1963, he became assistant to the president and in 1968 was named director of staff services. Mr. Stichnoth was named vice president for administration and was elected to the board of directors at Iowa-Illinois in 1975.
He became president in 1975 and chief executive officer in 1977. He was elected as chairman of the utility's board of directors in 1979. Mr. Stichnoth married Emilie Fredericks in 1950 in Davenport. He was an Air Force veteran in 1944-46.
