Arrangements are pending at Esterdahl Mortuary Crematory, Moline. Robert Depoorter Robert Lewis Depoorter, 83, of Moline, passed away Monday, Aug. 29, 2016, at his home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 2, at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline. Visitation will be 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Rafferty Funeral Home, 2111 1st St.

Moline. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island, with milihonors conducted by American Legion Post 246, Moline. Memorials can be made to Alleman High School football or Habitat for Humanity. Robert was born Nov. 18, 1932, in Moline, the son of Joseph and Martha VandenBusshe Depoorter.

He married Nancy Ann Slover Dec. 29, 1956, at St. Anne Church, East Moline. Bob retired from the Teamsters union as an independent truck driver. Bob lived a full life loving his family, watching his son coach football, eating out and bringing lawn mowers back from the dead.

Robert was never happier than when he was spending time with his family. He was born and raised Catholic and was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, which he attended regularly, including this past Sunday. His faith and beliefs were instilled in his seven children, their spouses and children, and his niece, Mary (Bob) Evans and nephew, John (Vickie) Roach and their families, who became a part of his. He also spent time with his 13 brothers and sisters and his many nieces and nephews. When family wasn't around, he was found in the garage fixing their broken lawn mowers, cars or any other thing that needed to be fixed.

Robert was a proud U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and member of American Legion Post 246, Moline. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; children, Todd (Jan) Depoorter, Kathryn (Joe) Swanson, Susan Taylor, Kent (Molly) Depoorter, Barry (Jean) Depoorter, Amy (Fernando) Rohwer and Ann (Jared) Jordan; grandchildren, Grace, Robert, Allie, Samantha, Jacob, John, Kevin, Elizabeth, Kayla, Erica, Katie (Nate), Ben, Kristy (Alex), Mallory (Troy), Ashley, Maggie, Samantha, Emma, Brad, Amanda (Matt), Joie, Corey (Rhonda), Jarrid, Sam, Brady and Lucy; great-grandchildren, lanto, Lauren, Peyton, Brayden, Haddie, Gage, Rochelle and Ryan; as well as sisters, Theresa (Doug) Wilson and Julia DeBlaey. Grafton was born Feb. 18, 1945, in Moline, to the late Chester Grafton and the late Genevieve Tisdale Grafton and was preceded in death by his daughter, Jessica Grafton. Mr. Grafton enjoyed woodworking and worked as a carpenter for 20-plus years. Before carpentry, he worked as a machinist, a police officer in Colorado and Illinois, pastored for several years and served his country in the U.S.

Army during the Vietnam War. He also enjoyed gardening, working around the house, trail riding on horseback and his favorite thing of all, saying "yes" to his children. Beard, 54, of Geneseo, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, Aug. 29, 2016, at her home.

A funeral service celebrating her life will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 2, at the Geneseo Evangelical Free Church. The Rev. Steven Palm will officiate.

Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo. Visitation will be 2 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Vandemore Funeral Home Crematory, Geneseo. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials may be made to the Joyce Beard Educational Fund for her children. Joyce was born July 5, 1962, in Moline, the daughter of Charles "Chuck" and Verna Loy McMillin.

She graduated from Moline High School. She was united in marriage to Randy W. Beard on Oct. 11, 1991, in Rock Island. Joyce owned and operated Curtain Calls by Joyce, which provided window treatments for many clients in the Geneseo and surrounding area.

Joyce was active in the Geneseo Evangelical Free Church as a Sunday school teacher and member of Bible Study Fellowship, serving as a children's leader and an administrative leader in the Moline Day Women's class. Joyce was instrumental in starting Geneseo Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) and the Mothers in Prayer group (MIPI) in Geneseo. She was also a Pathfinders coordinator, AWANA-Cubbies and Girl's leader, Girl's Bible Study leader for middle and high school girls and GEFC middle and high school youth group co-leader. Joyce constantly and continually witnessed to others for Christ. She was also a GEFC Youth Praise Band groupie.

Joyce volunteered for Kitchen Quarterbacks, was booster president for track and cross country, active PTA member at Millikin Elementary School and active in Millikin Elementary Junior Achievement, to name a few. She was awarded the Geneseo PTA Lifetime Membership. Joyce enjoyed sewing, gardening, canning, fishing, antiquing, photography, bird watching and floating with friends on the water. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and especially cheering Josh and Bek on at Geneseo sports. She is survived by her husband, Randy; son, Joshua Beard, at home; daughter, Rebekah Beard, at home; brothers, Tom (Ruth) McMillin, Bill McMillin, Brian (Betty) McMillin, Glen (Lori) McMillin and Mike (Jennifer) McMillin; sisters, Margaret McMillin, Carolyn Greving, Mary (John) Smith, Laurie (Greg) Carleton and Debbie (Tom) Castillo; and several nieces and nephews.

After raising their children in Ohio, they moved to Port Byron. Glenn passed in 1995. She returned to the Girard area to be near her other relatives. She was a member of the Girard Seniors for many years. After most of those relatives passed, she returned to live both near and with her daughter in Erie.

She had been a member of both First Baptist Church of Girard and the Pleasant Valley Church of Liberty Township, Ohio. While in Erie, she attended the Baptist Church. She will be interred in Warren, Ohio, next to her husband. She is survived by her two children and their spouses, Gary and Susan Price, Cleveland, Ohio, and Gail and Don Stoll, Erie; eight grandchildren; and 13 dren. In 1950, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, rising to the rank of staff sergeant. He was honorably discharged in 1954. He attended Moline Community College, where he was inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa scholastic honor fraternity, and graduated from Iowa State College in June 1958 with a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering.

The same month, he married the love of his life, the former Patricia Hogan, and began his career with Mason Hanger-Silas Mason Co. at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Burlington, Iowa. In 1974, he transferred to Amarillo, Texas, to work at the Pantex plant. After a 39-year career with Mason Hanger, he retired in 1997 as an assistant division manager. After retirement, he was a frequent volunteer with various charities and the Amarillo Police Department, and attended daily Mass at St.

Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, where he was a member of the Men's Club. He was a life member of the Knights of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Walter and Elizabeth Wilcox; his brother, Walter Wilcox his sister, Rita Maxwell; and a grandson, Ethan Wilcox. He is survived by his wife, Patricia; children, Beth Schmidt, Mary Miller, Stephen Wilcox and Candy Koharchik; five grandchildren; and a host of friends he considered family.
